This site contains a collection of tutorials, howtos, code snippets and so on, focusing on science and open source related areas of computing. The site is maintained by the staff of Kitson Consulting and occasional guest writers. Kitson Consulting is a UK based private company specialising in science and IT. In addition to this site and the main Kitson Consulting site, we also host a number of other sites; you can find out about some of them here.

We welcome any feedback, whether it be in the form of comments, corrections, or just to let us know that an article has been useful. Note: the site is also accessible over a secure connection at https://secure.kitserve.org.uk/. While there is nothing particularly requiring security on the site, we believe that there is no real reason that web browsing shouldn't be encrypted by default these days, particularly in light of increasing international governmental interest in monitoring/logging all internet traffic with apparent disregard for civil liberties.
